Cheque services are no longer provided. Listed below are all the important dates and changes to be aware of. You’ll also find all your alternative payment options to help make the transition as easy as possible.
Why have we phased-out cheques?
In line with the Australian Government’s announcement and Strategic Plan for Modernising Australian Payment Systems, starting from 22 August 2024, MyState Bank will no longer issue or reorder customer cheque books.
The use of cheques has declined by nearly 90% over the past 10 years, as more customers prefer the convenience of digital payments. As a result, our cheque payment provider has decided to discontinue their cheque processing services. This means we cannot issue customer cheque book facilities or process any unpresented cheques you may have issued.
So, what’s going to happen and when? #
22 August 2024
Automatic cheque book issues along with reordering of a cheque book through our branches or Customer Care will cease.
If you had not presented a cheque since August 2023 your cheque book facility will be closed.
29 November 2024
Any unpresented cheques should be presented for payment before 29 November 2024. Cheques presented after this date will be dishonoured. If you have any unpresented cheques in circulation, we encourage you to arrange a different payment method with your payee to avoid any inconvenience.
