What do you need to open a bank account?

You can apply for any MyState Bank account online in less than 5 minutes. As an existing MyState Bank customer, simply log into your personal online portal to open a new account. For new customers, all you will need is two forms of identification (Passport, Driver’s Licence, Medicare Card, etc). To qualify, you need to be at least 14 years of age, an Australian resident and have an Australian mailing address.

Can you open a bank account online?

Yes, absolutely. You’ll need about 5 minutes and two forms of identification to get started. Once you have submitted your application online, you’ll receive an email with a link and a temporary password to access the MyState Bank online platform and mobile App. You will also receive a digital VISA debit card that you can save to your favourite mobile device and start using immediately. Your physical debit card will be mailed to you.

How to check a bank account balance on my phone?

All available bank accounts with MyState Bank can be accessed and managed quickly and easily from your favourite mobile device using the MyState Bank App. You can login to check your account balance, transfer money, pay a bill, set up regular and automated payments and more.

Our online App, however, is more than just somewhere to quickly check your balance. Enjoy a range of additional features like automated low balance notifications that alert you when your account balance is too low for your upcoming payments and debits.
