MyState Investment Impersonation Scam
We’re aware of a new scam circulating at the moment, which targets new MyState customers and promises accelerated savings rates for opening a new term deposit via email.
- We want to remind you of a few things so you can be confident about what to do if you receive an email that looks like it’s from us.
- We will never ask you to complete an application form for a new account via email.
- We will never offer you increased interest rates in exchange for depositing large amounts of money or handing over your personal information.
- We will never ask you to deposit funds into your account immediately, or pressure you to open an account by a certain date.
- We will never ask you to contact us on a “direct line” or provide alternative contact details to our Customer Care team.
Remember, the ONLY way you can open an account with us as a new customer is via our secure website mystate.com.au, or in person at one of our local branches.
And the ONLY way to fund a new term deposit account is via a direct debit transaction using the account details you supply to us when you apply. We initiate this transaction, you do not transfer funds into your term deposit yourself.
Stay scam smart and contact us if you receive anything suspicious.
We want to help keep you and your money safe. If in doubt, call us directly on 138 001.
