Your Security

As well as an individual Personal Identification Number (PIN), which helps guard against unauthorised electronic transactions through your Redicard or Visa Debit Card, and an Access Code, which helps protect you on Phone and Internet Banking, there are a number of actions you can take to better protect yourself when transacting electronically.

We suggest you read the information below, or contact us to talk about your banking security.

  • Internet and Phone Banking use
As well as your Access Code, we use a range of innovative security techniques to help protect personal information. Visit this page for information on how you can help.

  • Verified by Visa
Verified by Visa can give you more peace of mind by letting you use your Visa Debit Card more securely online at participating Verified by Visa merchants.

MyState Financial's Top 10 Tips for Internet Security

  1. Delete all spam emails immediately and empty your deleted items folder.
  2. Always type your financial institution's website address into your browser - never use a link to your bank or credit union that has been sent to you in an email - it might be a phishing website.
  3. Install software that protects your computer from viruses and unwanted programs, and make sure it is kept up to date.
  4. Beware of free websites and downloads (such as music, adult sites, games, movies). They may install harmful programs without you knowing.
  5. Check the website address carefully. Scammers often set up fake websites with very similar addresses.
  6. Never enter your personal, credit card or online account information on a website that you are not certain is genuine.
  7. Never send your personal, credit card or online account details through an email.
  8. Try to avoid using public computers (at libraries or internet cafes) to do your Internet Banking.
  9. Do not use software on your computer that auto-completes online forms. This can give internet scammers easy access to your personal and credit card details.
  10. Choose passwords that would be difficult for anyone else to guess.
